North Aurora water safe to drink again Village lifts boil order March 21, 2009 By ERIKA WURST This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it NORTH AURORA — The village lifted its water boil order at 5 p.m. Friday, and said no contamination was found in the water system. The boil order was put in place early Thursday morning, after water pressure in at least one of the village's water towers dropped to almost zero. The village cautioned residents to boil their water before use — for drinking water and for all food preparation. Curious residents flooded Village Hall Thursday and Friday with questions about when their drinking water would be deemed safe, Village Administrator Sue McLaughlin said. Residents were notified Thursday morning about the order via the village's reverse 911 system, and on the village Web site. The flow of information, however, wasn't as efficient as some would have liked, and several residents expressed concerns about the notification process. McLaughlin said she recognized several "hiccups" in the reverse 911 system, but said those issues have since been hashed out and information will be disseminated in a quicker manner in the future. McLaughlin said about 200 residents signed up for the reverse 911 system on Thursday and Friday alone, and they can continue to do so by logging on to the village Web site: www.vil.north-aurora.il.us/reverse-911-online.htm. |
